About the chapter
The Africa Chapter of the International Association for Intelligence Education brings together educators, practitioners and students to strengthen the study, teaching and practice of intelligence across the continent.

Intelligence is taught across Africa in more places than most people realise, and usually in isolation. A department builds a curriculum from scratch that another built three years earlier. An analyst trains recruits with no idea that a university two countries away teaches the same material to a higher standard.
The chapter exists to close that gap. It brings the people doing this work into one room, whether that room is a conference hall or a video call, and gives them something to take back to their own institution.

Aims
What the chapter works to
- Grow the body of research and teaching in intelligence education across Africa.
- Give educators, analysts and students on the continent a forum for exchanging ideas and practice.
- Raise standards, by building shared resources and agreeing what a graduate ought to know.
- Connect academia, government and business, which too often train analysts in isolation from one another.
- Develop curricula, methods and teaching materials suited to African institutions and the questions they face.
- Act as the link between members and other professional bodies, and between Africa and IAFIE's chapters elsewhere.
IAFIE
Part of a global association
The International Association for Intelligence Education was founded in June 2004, when some sixty trainers and educators meeting at an intelligence colloquium in Pennsylvania concluded that their field needed a professional association spanning national security, law enforcement and competitive intelligence alike.
It now works through regional chapters, and the Africa Chapter is its home on this continent. Chapters are not separate organisations: every chapter member is a member of IAFIE itself, which is why joining runs through the global association rather than through us.
That arrangement is the point. It means a membership taken out in Accra or Nairobi carries the same standing as one taken out anywhere else, and opens the same doors.
